"Smoking" Cannabis Flowers
Curing is critical for a smooth smoking experience and maximum aroma and flavor.
When smoked cannabis is inhaled, cannabinoids like THC pass through the mouth and toward the trachea before entering the lungs. At this point, cannabinoids like THC are transferred into the bloodstream, where they almost immediately enter the heart to be pushed onward to the brain.
Dried Flower, Concentrates, Oils or Glycol Based eLiquids can all be vaporized with the correct equipment for each source material. (I.e. different equipment is used to vaporize flower as apposed to eLiquid.)
Vaporizing, as it applies to medical cannabis, is the process of heating dried cannabis to a temperature just below its combustion point of 392°F. Although vaporizers have been around for some time now, it is only in the last five to ten years that the benefits of vaporization have become widely known.
This is one of the safest ways to inhale your medicine. The cannabinoid-laden oils are heated to the point where the active cannabinoids become airborne vapors, without bringing the other plant material to combustion. This drastically reduces the amount of tars and other chemical irritants that you would inhale if the cannabis were smoked.
“Taking a dab” refers to the process of touching, or “dabbing”, this small amount of extract against a heat source, a titanium nail in most cases (sometimes glass or quartz), in order to vaporize the extract.
When made properly, a cannabis concentrate should be reminiscent of the strain it was extracted from. The smell, taste, and effects are simply magnified due to a larger concentration by weight.
Dabbing is a method of medicating that may appear odd and somewhat dangerous to the untrained eye. The use of an open-flame torch, albeit small, can turn patients away from the phenomenon altogether. However, dabbing doesn’t entail any more risk than cooking over a gas stove. As long as precautions are taken, there is not much to worry about.
Cannabis used in this form can impair motor skills. We therefore strongly suggest that you find a safe environment to consume your medicine & wait at least 1-2 hours after you medicate before operating machinery or driving.
